The first side, the Platinum Suite, is a jaunt in four parts and comes very highly recommended. It has some great playing, melodies, arrangements and textures and bounces along very nicely - very easy to appreciate and perhaps even a good route into Oldfield's music for the uninitiated/5().

Another warmly received Mike Oldfield reissue along with QE2. This is another great 2-CD package. The live CD is superb, offering (what I think are) previously unreleased versions. As for the main album, Platinum is the standout track. My only gripe is Punkadiddle, I just find it really irritating- or maybe that's the point!/5().

The start of Oldfield's second period, "Platinum" was more commercial than previous Oldfield albums and featured shorter songs than before. The only long song here is the "Platinum" suite that starts the album. It's a excellent piece of music, though not as "serious" that earlier. Still the best track on the album/5(17).
